Friday Morning Jams - At Alternating Bloomington and St. Paul Locations

Picture
www.FridayMorningJam.us

What is a Jam? - Jam sessions are often used by musicians as a social gathering and communal practice session. Jams are fun times to play music with others.

The Friday Morning Jams - These are not lessons.  However, the uke is so easy to play that even if you have never played before, we’ll show you simple chords to get you playing along right away.

Who - The jam emphasis will be on ukulele.  This jam is geared for adult and mature teen beginners to advanced uke players, with an emphasis on keeping things simple so all can participate right from the beginning.  This Friday Morning jams are free and open to the public.

What - A moderate paced ukulele jam led by Tony Anthonisen and others. Sponsored by MBOTMA (Minnesota Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association). The jam focus will be on helping all jammers feel welcome and part of the jam - from the beginning.

Song Books -
We will use the following books as our sources of jam songs.  Hardcopy versions of these books are available at the jam sites. They are also available as ebooks for tablets, like the iPad. NOTE - If you want to put the ebook tablet versions on your tablet, do NOT buy the hardcover versions, or you will have to pay again for the ebook tablet versions.

  1. The Daily Ukulele: 365 Songs for Better Living (Yellow Book).
  2. The Daily Ukulele: Leap Year Edition (Blue Book).
  3. The Favorite Old-Time American Songs for Ukulele book.

Need help playing the uke?  Twin Cities Ukulele Club Friday Morning jams will start with a 10:30 a.m. half hour basic workshop.  This is for those who are new uke players or who haven’t played uke much or recently. The whole idea is to introduce and practice chords, chord changes, 1 4 5, and other concepts to new or less experienced uke players before the jam.  Then, we will start playing and singing songs right at 11. Never played a uke and want to get a head start - before the jam?  The Daily Ukulele "Yellow Book" has a good "how to" section at the beginning of the book - available at the jam site.

Questions - Automatic Notification of Events - You may ask questions and sign up for automatic e-mail notification of the Twin Cities Ukulele Club jams by contacting TwinCitiesUkeClub@icloud.com.

Why? - Because you just never see someone playing a uke without a smile on their face!
