Chords, Arpeggios, and Scales - Annie Savage - Regency
All things aside...there really isn't that much difference between music theory and folk music. We promise. This workshop is designed to help folks draw the connection between very basic music theory and what they already know really well. Spoiler alert: chords ARE arpeggios without patience. And scales? They are the vitamins and minerals of playing because all tunes are made up of them. All things music theory but broken into bite-sized- albeit slightly nerdy- pieces of forever useful information about why your old piano teacher wanted you to practice those etudes! |

Minneapolis Youth Ukulele Orchestra Concert
12:00-12:30 p.m. - Regency
The Minneapolis youth ukulele orchestra is a fun opportunity for young people to play fun songs in a group. We work hard, but have a playful approach, incorporating kazoos, singing, clapping and egg shakers. Participants learn how to play collaboratively with each other, at the same tempo, listening to one another and having harmonizing parts. We rehearse weekly in a large group and will have three performances this year. The mission of the Minneapolis Youth Orchestra is to promote access to the world of music through ukulele education and performance opportunities. The vision is to expand access to ukulele education and performance through community outreach programs and partnerships. |

The Free-Strings is a method designed to help folks get away from just playing the same old-same old and moving with careful steps into crafting your own breaks. We will use familiar melodies from free-strings.com and workshop attendee requests and use live demonstrations of those willing to bring in a tune they want to embellish! So come with your tunes and be ready to bring the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference! Intermediate- able to pick out single line melodies (or fake it really well)! |
