There is all kinds of information on the www.TCUkeClub.com website on what ukulele to buy, what songbooks are good, where to play your ukulele, and more. Based on all my years as a the leader and ukulele instructor at both local and national lessons, workshops and jams, here is what I would do if I were a brand new ukulele player. And, I would do them in this order. Follow the blue links below.

Buy a decent ukulele - You really can't enjoyably play a $40 toy uke. Loaner/Test Ukuleles - Keep in mind that the Twin Cities Ukulele Club has loaner/demo ukuleles at all of our jams.

Click here and watch this "how to" video. It is just about the very best I have seen. You will be playing ukulele by the end. Thanks to Heidi Swedberg and Ukulele Magazine for this video.

Attend ukulele jams - Seriously! Find a ukulele club that welcomes beginner ukulele players, like the Twin Cities Ukulele Club does. (If it's not fun, why would you do it?)

To move up from being a basic player, take lessons. If you like playing your ukulele and want to get better, look into lessons either from a local instructor or online. There are a myriad of very good online instructors. Cynthia Lin, Bernadette Teaches Music, Craig Chee and Sarah Maisel (Artist Works), Marcy Marxer (Peghead Nation), Christopher Davis-Shannon, Stu Fuchs, and more!

It really is this simple! REALLY!
